Who Are You Listening To? – Birds on the Blog

Who Are You Listening To?

So, in my business as life and business strategist, I am open about who I am.  I only want the right people in my community, I only want to work with people who I adore and who adore me back.  If I am going to be working with people for extended periods of time then I want to make sure they are the right people for me and so I share me, all of who I am, all of the way I think, everything.

Anyway, I shared about my recent boob enlargement and the fact that the healing had not gone to plan and linked it to the fact that when you choose to go after everything you desire, things can still go wrong.  And it is whom you choose to be in the face of things going wrong that really determines how your life pans out.

Anyway that was the gist of what I shared and then I had people messaging me and commenting with all their sad stories of friends they knew who had had plastic surgery and had toxic side effects and warning me to be careful and ultimately, trying to put me off doing what I have already done! And then they topped it up by saying “I am praying for you!” or something along those lines!

Now bearing in mind that the plastic surgery has already been done, what is the benefit to me of anyone telling me their ‘friend’s’ sad story? Am I supposed to be comforted with that?!!

Yes, people will feel they have a right to give you their opinions and yet, this was just the human tendency to propagate fear and whether you realise it or not, it is the human tendency to gloat at other people’s misfortunes.  ESPECIALLY when it is something they do not have the courage to do themselves.

I grew up in a home where one of the family members was VERY depressed and who, intentionally or not, wanted everyone else to be depressed as well.  And so though this person would claim to love everyone, they would also use their words to cut you down horridly!  I still remember times when I would be about to go out and enjoy being with my friends and then this person would call me and moan and groan about how I did not care for them if I was going to enjoy myself.  So then I would leave the house, feeling guilty!

Until I realised that this person was sad and wanted me to be sad too.

I decided to stop paying attention.

I then got the ‘You are so selfish’ statements instead.

I simply chose to ignore it and go the way that I felt was best for me.  As a result of growing up with this, I recognise it now in others who claim to wish me well but really, they are trying to use me as a scapegoat for their own boredom, fear and dissatisfaction.

They want to do more, feel that they are trapped in their current life experience and so, lurk on all that I do and only rear their ugly head to ‘lovingly’ tell me that I need to be scared and live like they do.

To which I say “NO!”

I refuse to act out of fear, no matter how caringly it is delivered to my doorstep!

As an entrepreneur who wants more out of life than most people ever will find the courage to go after, you will experience these naysayers and the worst ones will be in your own home or very close to you.  They will drain your energy with their ‘caring’ opinions on what they think you should or should not do and you will feel there is even merit to their ideas because they ‘CARE’ for you!

Be wise, leader!

YOU KNOW what is best for you and yes, others can advise you but you have to be confident enough to make your own choices and decisions about what you are allowed to be, do, have.

Most people act and speak from a fear-based place – DO NOT LET THEM SWAY YOU!

Be wise!

Fight for, deliberately design the life you are born to live

Because you want to!
