Quit Whining About Caster Semenya

caster semenyaI read an article over the weekend that Lynsey Sharp has a problem running with Caster Semenya in the Rio Olympics. How much of this is media speculation and how much of it is true I don’t know.

But what I will say is quit whining about Caster Semenya and how hard it is to race against her.

You see I too have a surplus of testosterone. I have a whole heap of hormone issues, and I’m still a woman. What I’m not is an athlete.

Lynsey Sharp would beat me in a race hands down. I can’t recall the last time I ran, although I do cycle a lot.

Just because I have testosterone it doesn’t make me harder to beat.

What makes me, and Caster Semanya harder to beat is our training. Or, in my case the lack of it.

Semenya trains hard in South Africa. It’s different to training in the U.K. The weather is different and that impacts upon us. The first thing us Brits do in a different country is complain about the heat as we’re not used to it. Semenya is not only used to the heat, she trains in the heat.

I don’t hear of of segregating the the runners in cold countries from the runners in warm countries. The way I see it is that gives the runner a much bigger advantage than a little more testosterone than normal.

If you lose a race, and you’ve tried your best, then that is absolutely okay. If you didn’t race your best, and only you would know, you don’t get to bitch and complain. But women athletes are whining.

Whining about perceived advantages

It is whining and bullying what’s going here with Caster Semenya.

Cuddling up to the fellow losers and not congratulating that winner? That makes you a sore loser, and a bully to boot. One whose sole objective was to cast doubt on the winner. The one who will go home and train that little bit harder in the face of your public rejection. And at the next international event, they’ll win that too.

The sad thing is, even if Caster Semenya had her medal taken from her, Lynsey Sharp would be in now in 5th place and not 6th. This is not the Olympic mentality, or the mindset of a winner.

Go home, quit whining and train harder.

And if you wish to race me to see the difference between training and the testosterone, you know where I am. Please have a doctor by the side of the track in order to revive me after the first 100 metres.
