OK, let me put you out of your misery (or maybe you are the confident type who knows your worth, well done you!)…
YOU ARE TALENTED ENOUGH for the life you are here to live, the business you are here to grow, the impact you are here to have…
There is absolutely no need to stare at what others do and what others have and think that somehow you have to present in exactly the same way because you DON’T…
You are exactly right for your own life!
OK, mind at peace? Great! Let me tell you a story. You may have heard it before but here is my version of it.
A boss man left his estate in the care of 3 peeps.
The one got 5 talents to look after, the other 2 and the final one had one talent…
And off the boss man goes on his travels to see the world, do whatever it is that boss men do and ultimately trust all his worldly possessions to these three peeps. He seems very sure of himself and his ability to clean up any messes that may arise from this arrangement!
Anyway, Ms 5 got to work and soon enough doubled her 5 talents
Mr 2 also got to work and managed to double his 2 talents…
Whereas Mr 1 decided that there was too much pressure, he needed to wait for permission, he did not know what to do, he had to pray a little more about it, hewas not sure which way the market was going, he only had 1 talent unlike the others and so he had better keep it all hidden and safe and so on, when the crazy ideas in his head until he had thought himself into inaction.
And so, the bossman returns and asks for an account of things, just to tie up the books, you know…
And to his great delight, Ms 5 and Mr 2 reported proudly about all their investments and busines ideas and how though they had been afraid, they had just got on and done it anyway. It felt right… scary but right…
And here was the result!
The bossman was so proud of them.
So proud that they had initiative and took what they had and made more of it.
And then he turned to Mr 1 expectantly but noticed immeidately the defensive look in his eyes, the dramatic bend in his back and knew that the story here was not going to be so good.
The bossman looked around him, saw the abundance that could have been tapped into by Mr 1 and tried to hld back his annoyance that Mr 1 would not have seen it too…
Anyway, he held back to hear what Mr 1 had to say…
And yep, out came the whines and groans and tales of woe…
Out came the attempts to justify himeself as he said the bossman did not tell him what to do with the talent and so he had waited on the word of permission…
In fact, he had even tried to make sure that Ms 5 and Mr 2 were not too cavalier with the bossman’s property and frankly, it was just luck that they had made it work after all the risks they had taken…
And anyway, the boosman does not want to reap where he has not sown, right?
That would be unfair!
“And so”, Mr 1 concluded, “I felt it was best to hide my talent away safe and sound until your return and here it is – exactly how you gave it to me!”
The bossman looked at Mr 1, incredulous!
“You had all that potential and you did NOTHING!”
“Fine, you now get what you expected – NOTHING! and in fact, I will hand your unused talent to someone more likely to use and expand it. I hope you are happy with your nothing”
Mr 1 slinks away, with tail between legs, feeling like he was hard done by and how life is just not fair to people like him.
