DIARY OF A PERSONAL BRAND

Now is a great time to (Re)introduce yourself!

Do you realise you are an expert at connecting with others? Long before networking became a science you had honed your craft. Every time you strike up a conversation with a stranger, you are connecting and throughout your lifetime, you have introduced yourself to literally thousands, of new people, that makes you an expert!

As the world opens up and we begin to navigate our way onto the new landscape (there is no going back to normal) it’s a great opportunity to tell/remind your world of who you are. If you don’t tell them they will simply make it up for themselves and we all know how unreliable that can be!

None of us is the same as we were before 2020, think about how you much you have grown. You have a lot of brand equity. Don’t just take my word for it, pause for a moment and take a look at:

  1. The lessons you have learned through your challenges
  2. The skills and strategies you have developed through your experiences
  3. The new perspectives you now have of the world and yourself as a result of the Journey you have travelled and the obstacles you were forced to navigate

Embrace your growth

What you bring to the table today is an enriched and enhanced version (if you choose to embrace your growth) of what previously existed, bringing a richer experience to the people you are here to serve. How will they know if you don’t take the opportunity to (reintroduce yourself?

Introductions are the entry point for deals, partnerships, friendships, relationships… so they deserve to be taken seriously.

Introduce yourself by paying close attention to the following:

  1. People buy from people, so the key is to be yourself and humanise your message. Titles and accomplishments have a role to play but unless they connect you to your audience, they may work against you.
  2. The people you are introducing yourself to are tuned in to WIIFM (What’s In It For Me) so ensure you take that into consideration.
  3. Be clear about your message and what story you would like others to be telling about you. Your introduction is like your once upon a time… and the hook to make them want to read more.

It’s a new season, capitalise on your personal brand equity and (re)introduce yourself.
