DIARY OF A PERSONAL BRAND

PACKING FOR THE LAST QUARTER

We are coming to the end of September and, as you start to question where the time has gone, it is a great opportunity to revisit your plans for how you are to navigate the last quarter of the year.

Take a tip from the corridors of sport where in the last quarter they give it all they’ve got even if the points are stacked against them at that point. Irrespective of how things have panned out in recent months, you can still finish the year strong.

I see life as a great adventure and us as intrepid explorers. It is all about the journey we are travelling, the person we are becoming, the people we meet along the way and the impact we leave behind as we go.

As we step into October and onto the landscape of the last quarter of the year, I challenge you to look at it as though it was a trip, the trip of a lifetime, because quite literally, we have never been there before.

When you are going on any trip, you pack for the journey and for the experiences you want to have. It’s time to get your suitcase and start packing to make sure you have what you need, making sure to let go of the things that will not serve you on your journey.

Start Packing

As with any trip, you are probably wondering what to pack there are so many possibilities. The contents of your case will, of course, be individual to you but, here are seven must-haves to get you started:

  1. VISION

I see vision as the destination, the place you are trying to reach and so is a must. Revisit your vision and craft it in such a way that you can feel it pulling you forward.

  1. LOVE

I think this is the important force behind everything

  • Love for yourself
  • Love for others
  • Love for the people you are here to serve
  • Love for what you do. If you don’t love what you do maybe you need to rethink what you are doing (just saying)
  1. STRENGTH AND RESILIENCE

We know just how challenging life and business can be, so we need strength to be able to navigate our way through the challenges and the obstacles and the things that are going to get in the way.

  1. HEADPHONES OF FOCUS

A tool to help you cut through the noise of distraction, so you are only listening to the things that are necessary and valuable to help you to navigate this journey and serve others better.

  1. WIN Map – Winning Inspirational Narrative

It’s important to remember your successes. Sometimes things haven’t quite gone the way you wanted them to, but along the way, there have been wins nonetheless. If you, did it then that means that you can do it again. Record those wins.

  1. SPARKLE

Revisit your Sparkle Equation – Know who you are + Understand the value you bring to the table + Show up unapologetically on purpose – so you give your Sparkle a polish and position yourself to shine more brightly.

  1. SUPPORT

We are never going to make this journey successfully alone. We need support in terms of systems, processes, and people to help us navigate the journey ahead. Identify the support you need and exercise your ask muscle.

There are, of course, many other things to include in your suitcase that are individual to you and the journey ahead. Take some time to identify what that is for you.
