Filling your workshops and seminars is a challenge for many event promoters. If you don’t have list of subscribers to promote your event to, you are making it even tougher on yourself.
After all, the best results from your marketing come from people who know, like and trust you. That is usually the people on your list. They have raised their hand, letting you know they are interested in what you have to offer. They have also given you permission to visit their inbox whenever you want. They are the most likely candidates to come to your event.
But what if you don’t have a list, or a very small list?
The truth is, if you have 100 people on your list, you are not going to fill up a 2 day event with 100 people. You won’t get 100% of your list to respond and take action, no matter WHAT you do. Those numbers just don’t add up.
Here is what you CAN do:
Right Size Your Audience
Small events can be very lucrative. There have been plenty of workshops with 10-15 people that made multiple tens of thousands of dollars. It is much more important to fill your workshop with the right audience than with a large audience. If you have ten motivated attendees in the room who love working with you, you can make them a great offer for a continued high end relationship.
Right Size Your Event
Instead of a 2 day event, host a 3 hour introductory workshop. Your attendees definitely have to know and trust you to spend 2 days with you. That is a big time commitment. However, if you host an inexpensive workshop, your audience can experience you at a minimal risk. Introductory workshops are specifically designed to generate leads (and to build your list).
That makes it much easier to market your introductory workshop to people who are not familiar with you yet. And a great bonus is that you can actually use your introductory workshop to fill your 2 day event.
Right Size Your List
Finally, start building that list. There are lots of ways to build your list both online and offline. First, add an optin form to your website and make sure you offer something delectable that your audience will trade their email address for. Then start speaking to build your list and promote your event. Speak on other people’s stages, host webinars or teleseminars. Just get out there, build your list and sell your tickets.
Before you know it, you WILL have a list and promoting your next event will be so much easier.
